about

The arguments that fly around the camp spark Simon's memory and he starts piecing together the fragments of memory that he had before he was locked up in the hospital. He remembers a conversation he heard and realizes that he has unwittingly been caught up in the middle of a global political battle. He wants to "be" in a world full of those who want to "have".

It is spring. As the camp is taken apart around him Simon realizes that he must move on and so gathers his things. He finds a street corner, gets a crowd, makes some money and finds a place to live. He contemplates being alone almost to the point of madness and eventually goes on another of his epic walks to clear his head.

Before long a crowd appears in the distance, coming over a hill. It is a protest and the people on the march are demanding better lives. Simon watches from a distant vantage point as the protest encounters riot police, who kettle the crowd with military precision and begin snatching protestors in a machine like fashion, handcuffing them and putting them in black trucks that drive away at break neck speed.

Simon is able to escape from the scene and walks on through derelict housing projects and eventually into the business center of the city where the streets are overflowing with suits, skirts and briefcases. He comes upon a film shoot where he overhears an agent speaking to his acting talent who is about to go on camera. The conversation is about endorsement and the impact that has on working in commercial film and television. The agent appeals to the actors sense of narcissism to get what he wants. Simon moves on.
